Jenny Holzer – The Work

The Work
Jenny Holzer
July 22–25, 2021

The second edition of the online platform The Work presents a new work by Jenny Holzer from her redaction painting series, for which the artist researches U.S. government documents, many released under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The often heavily redacted documents are traced onto linen and then covered in paint and swaths of metal leaf. By reproducing elements of these reports so carefully, Holzer highlights the government’s revelations as well as the deliberate erasure and concealment of information.

Barbara Kruger – The Work

The Work
Barbara Kruger
June 3–6, 2021

Sprüth Magers’ first edition of the new online platform The Work consists of two distinct but inextricably connected works by Barbara Kruger from 1989/1990. A unique gelatin silver print is presented and sold alongside the intimate paste-up created to generate the iconic work that encapsulates Kruger’s celebrated aesthetics.
